Win2000 is our commonly used server operating system which has great advantages over other operating systems in terms of function. Win2000 has many tips to enhance its own performance in the application I don't know if you have discovered it. Here we introduce to you the experience I have summed up I hope you will be helpful in practical applications.
1. Quickly start the computer
By editing the 'timeout=' value in the C:boot.ini file you can achieve the purpose of shortening the startup time. But this file is read-only by default we need to remove its read-only attribute first and then edit it. The specific steps are as follows: Open the 'C: Disk' in 'My Computer' select the 'Folder Options' command in the 'Tools' menu; enter the 'Folder Options' dialog box select the 'View' tab and click In 'Advanced Settings' remove the checkmarks in front of 'Hide protected operating system files' and 'Hide extensions of known file types' and select 'Show all files and files' in 'Hidden files and folders' Folder' click the 'OK' button; right-click the 'boot.ini' icon select the 'Properties' command in the right-click menu enter the 'Properties' dialog box and set the 'Properties' before 'Read-only' Remove the hook and click the 'OK' button so that we remove the read-only attribute of the 'boot.ini' file; right-click the icon of 'boot.ini' select the 'open' command in the right-click menu and enter 'Notes' This' change the 'timeout=' value to the value you are satisfied with then save and exit.
2 shorten the boot time
If we install multiple operating systems then by default Win 2000 will wait 30 seconds at the boot menu so that we can choose . In order to speed up the startup speed we can shorten this time the specific operation method is as follows: right-click 'My Computer' and then select the 'Properties' command in the right-click menu; enter the 'System Features' dialog box select 'Advanced' Tab; click the 'Startup and Recovery' button to enter the 'Startup and Recovery' dialog box; then set the 'Display Operating System List' in 'System Startup' to a smaller value such as 8 seconds or less. If we want to enter Win 2000 directly without displaying the system list just set it to 0 seconds.
3 speed dial Internet access
If you want to speed up the entire communication connection process you can configure the modem to speed dial. To do so a special command needs to be added to the initialization string of the modem. This command is AT S11=50 which is used to set the time of each button pulse to 50 milliseconds. In order to configure this option you can solve it as follows:
Click the 'Start' menu and select ' Set the 'Control Panel' in the menu item double-click the 'Modem' to open the dialog box select the installed Modem and click the 'Properties' button select the 'Connection' tab click the 'Advanced' button in the 'Additional Type 'S11=50' in the 'Settings' text box. If there are already some commands in the 'Additional Settings' text box just add a space in the existing command line and then add this new command.
4. Let the system log in automatically
Even if you use it alone it’s better to let it log in automatically by opening the 'System Features' dialog box in the 'Network Under the 'Identification' tab click the 'Change...' button and then follow the 'Network Identification Wizard' to operate but please pay attention to the setting: be sure to select 'This machine is used for home not part of the commercial network' And 'Win always assumes that the following users have logged in to this machine' otherwise automatic login cannot be achieved. If you want to temporarily cancel the automatic login or need to log in with another user name just hold down the Shift key during startup.
5. Quick restart
Every time we restart the computer the computer must detect the system and hardware which takes a certain amount of time. In order to restart quickly we can follow the steps below: Click the 'Start' button select 'Shut down the system' in the pop-up 'Close Win dialog box' select 'Restart the computer' and then hold down Shift Click the 'Yes' button while pressing the key so that you can skip the detection of the system and hardware so as to achieve the purpose of restarting the computer quickly.
6. Quickly add favorites
If you want to add a webpage to favorites the traditional operation is to use 'favorites'*' to add to favorites after opening the webpage ...' The command is complete. In windows2000 click the right mouse button on a link that has not had time to open and select the 'Add to Favorites...' command in the shortcut menu. You can also add this webpage to the favorites so that you can directly from the favorites next time you browse Open this page in the folder. If you drag this link to the desktop or 'My Documents' shortcut icon you can directly access this link from the desktop or 'My Documents' in the future.
7. Quickly browse offline webpages
You need to browse an already opened webpage offline. The traditional way is to find and open it link by link in the order of online opening This page. The quicker way is to add this webpage to favorites and then browse this webpage from favorites in offline mode. In fact creating a shortcut for this page is the fastest way. In the address bar of the browser there is a small icon in front of the URL of the opened webpage. Hold down this small icon with the mouse and drag it to the desktop or the shortcut icon of 'My Documents'. Quickly browse this webpage offline in the 'My Documents' window.
8. Quickly send mail
Right-click on the 'Start' menu select 'Open' right-click in the opened window and select 'New'* 'Shortcut' and then enter 'mailto:' in the 'Please type the location of the item' box click 'Next' enter 'New Mail' in the 'Type the name of the shortcut' box and click 'Finish' 'Yes. In the future just click this shortcut to create a new email.
If you often email a friend you can create a shortcut specifically for this friend. The method is similar to the above. For example your friend's email address is firstname.lastname@example.org then you only need to enter email@example.com in the 'Please enter the location of the project' box and the rest remains the same.
9. Quick display menu
The default menu display of Win2000 is the effect of 'fade out and fade in' the speed is relatively slow you can provide its display speed operation method: in your Right-click on the desktop and select 'Properties' the 'Display Properties' window will pop up and then under the 'Effects' tab change the 'Fade in and fade out effect' on the right side of the 'Animation display menu and tooltip' to 'Scroll effect' ; Next click 'Start' * 'Run' type regedit.exe command press OK and enter 'HKEY_CURRENT_ USERControl PanelDesktop' double-click the key name 'Menushowdelay' in the right window
